Good News & Bad News

Your tests show you have only 24 hours to live.

Ouch! What’s the good news?

That was the good news. The bad news is that I forgot to call you yesterday!

And we laugh because sometimes life feels this way!

God commissions His people:

Good News: “And this gospel [“good news”] of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations …” (Matthew 24:14).

Bad News: “Cry aloud, spare now; lift up your voice like a trumpet; tell my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins” (Isaiah 58:1-2).

Media studies show we’re bombarded with 17 negative news reports for every good one.   The magic ratio should be five positive to one negative.  That’s one reason we see so much suffering in the world.

But here’s a bigger one:

Good News: One of God’s best gifts is free moral agency.

Bad News: We make too many bad choices.

How will it all end?

Good News:  “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ and He shall reign forever and ever!” (Revelation 11:15).   No more crying.   No more tears.   No more pain.   Truth wins.   Good wins.   Love wins.   We win.   God family and kingdom forevermore.

Bad News: There will be none.

FUN FACT: Good News: I got invited over for dessert. Bad News:  The host said they’re having chocolate moose!
