The misery caused by man, duped by satan,
gives way to the wrath of God
The Four Horsemen saddle up and ride roughshod over the earth. When these four seals of Revelation are completed, one-fourth of the earth is killed (Rev. 6:8). With the current population of the earth counted as 7.4 billion (March 2016), that’s 1.85 billion!
The fifth seal will be the Great Tribulation lasting 3-1/2 years. “For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved” (Matt. 24:21-22).
For the sixth seal heavenly signs terrorize the earth! The sun becomes black and the moon like blood. A great earthquake rocks the earth. Stars of heaven fall. The sky recedes as a scroll. Time to rock & roll!
The first six seals wreak
Who can blame a little kid for asking, “How could such cute little furry creatures cause so much trouble!”
Of course the real cause is out-of-control human nature motivated by the wrath of Satan seeking whom he may devour, knowing his time is short.
So next it’s time for the seventh seal with its seven trumpets of God and seven last plagues—the Day of the Lord. We’re picturing that momentous time during this 24 hours from sunset tonight (Sunday, Oct. 2) to sunset tomorrow (Monday, Oct. 3) as we observe God’s Holy Day called the Feast of Trumpets.
These seven trumpets will not be blown by famous trumpeters like Louis Armstrong or Herb Alpert with exciting music to enjoy. They won’t be the traditional 100 ceremonial blasts of a shofar taking place in Rosh Hashana services today! The seven trumpets of God will be blown by powerful angels that bring global destruction and punishment! So this Holy Day has its “solemn” side (Psa. 81:3).
Yet, amidst all this fearsome earth-wide punishment and impact will be
Individual relationships with God
Individual choices. Individual character.
Are you ready for the seven trumpets of God to blow? Will you be able to claim Jesus Christ’s comforting promise: “Because you have kept my command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth” (Rev. 3:10)?
Obviously the safest place to be will be under God’s protection He offers His people who
Follow Christ wherever He goes (Rev. 14:4)
Today celebrates the return of Jesus Christ to this earth to set up His Kingdom. “Blessed is that servant when his master, when He comes, will find so doing” (Matt. 24:46).
If you are one of these servants, you will “not mourn nor weep” on this Holy Day (Neh. 8:9-10). You will “go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
And when the seventh trumpet sounds, you can be changed in the first and better resurrection! That is worth celebrating!
