Those born after 1984, aged 18-30, are called millennials.
Researchers rave that they have unparalleled opportunity
to influence the future.
This will be especially so for those God calls
to be a leader of His Millennium.
Are you—whatever your age—
becoming one of Christ’s “Millennials”?
The generation that turned adults in 2000—beginning the next 1,000 years—have been dubbed millennials.
God the Father is calling adults to become His leaders when Jesus Christ returns to this earth and sets up His Millennial reign of 1,000 years (Rev. 20:3-4).
If you permit me to dub these leaders “Millennials,” you don’t have to be born after 1984 to be one of these resurrected to spirit beings at the seventh trumpet to become kings, priests and judges. Or those who will live into the Millennium and become princes and princesses (Psa. 45:16) serving under the God rulers.
If you think millennials have power to reshape the world, can you even begin to fathom
The power Millennials will have!
Talk about a ground-floor opportunity to have a big part in building the Family/Kingdom of God! The sound of that really reverberates with this Boomer!
Some recent Facebook posts argue that the glorious message of the Bible needs to be retold in some special way just so it will appeal to millennials. Good on you if you have some special knack for that! But God wrote the same glorious words to inspire all His children. Child, whatever age you are, this is exciting future! This is the Force that is really going to be with you!
Not only will a lion lie down with a lamb, but more transforming, the nature of man will be changed to stop hurting and destroying as the earth becomes “full of the knowledge of the Lord” (Isa. 11:9). Whatever climate changes really are needed, they will be changed. Those reigning will provide rain in due season. Family life restored! Economic prosperity! Meaningful education! The end of war!
How’s that for idealistic purpose and desiring to make an impact!
In 2009 21% of millennials were married, which is important in shaping a strong society. God’s Millennials in the first resurrection will marry Jesus Christ (Rev. 19:7) and then have the privilege of parenting all the sons and daughters to come. To be part of Christ’s bride is one of the chief reasons why the first resurrection is “better” (Heb. 11:35) and a double portion for the firstborn (Deut. 21:17). Again, to this Boomer, that spells special don’t-miss-out O-P-P-O-R-T-U-N-I-T-Y!
In 2009 millennials made up 62% of the labor force. Those who want to be Millennials must be actively doing the Work of God individually and collectively worldwide. Jesus said “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come” (Matt. 24:14). And “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:19-20). Yes, a tall order, but God guarantees the preaching of His gospel and the preparing of His people “will be” accomplished by His Millennials! That is today’s mission that must drive us, whatever our age.
“For you, Lord, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of your hand,” exclaimed the psalmist (probably David) nearly three millennia ago.
When Jesus comes, He must find would-be Millennials
“So doing” (Matt. 24:46)
One Barna Group survey said “Millennials seem to be overconfident in their self-assessment of Bible knowledge compared to what they actually know.” This could be because in a survey of February 2015, 33% of millennials admitted to never reading the Bible! Only 17% believe the Bible is the literal Word of God.
“The good news is that, while more millennials are turning skeptical toward the Bible, we still see them reaching out to God during times of difficulty and to feel closer to God…” said Drew Hood, managing director of communications at American Bible Society. If that’s what it takes, difficulty is coming. But why should the wise wait!
Bible study is one of the four tools in a Millennial’s toolbox. Don’t kid ourselves, anybody who wants to become part of God’s Millennials will have to become “diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15).
Millennials, you are respected for being steered by strong values. Here’s your calling: If you really want to reshape not only this world but the universe, resolve now to become one of God’s Millennials. Since a day is as a 1,000 years in God’s sight, let’s start today!
